One-day excursion to Blagoevgrad

The city is the economic and cultural centre of southwestern Bulgaria. It is located in the valley of the Struma River, at the foot of the Rila and Pirin mountains, 100 km south of Sofia, near the border with North Macedonia. Blagoevgrad has a pedestrianised centre with 19th-century architecture, with many restaurants, cafés and boutiques. It is named after the great Bulgarian communist Dimitar Blagoev.
